From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I am deeply concerned with the possibility of the government having ANY control of the media. The media should be there to inform with facts not persuade with opinions. Any attempt of the government to contol what the public has knowlege of or what information should be share with the public is a gross encrochment of the freedoms that we as Americans hold dear. Our government should in no way support or hender the media. Government has no place in the "media industry". Free speech is a undenialable right that we have and any attempt to change or control that is truly an attack on every citizen of this country. We do not need our government controlling what information we are privleged to. We have the right to hear anyone's opinion on any subject, especially when it comes the the governing on our country. We elected everyone of the lawmakers of this country and we did so to represent the people and to PROTECT OUR FREEDOMS, not to dismantle them. If the government takes away the ability of the people to be informed, then we have given ALL powers to them and we are no longer "governed for the people by the people" but rather for the government by the government which goes in direct contrast to the founding principles of our country.
