From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
My husband and I strongly oppose the censorship of media by setting a "Fairness Doctrine" that will hinder the right of free speech. The US doesn't need to follow the lead of Canada and other countries to police the subject of discussion of news or opinions. Nor should the government subsidize any media whereby it would create pressure to report according to the governing body. Those entities should stand or fail on their own merit. We do not want or need government controlled media to indoctrinate the population with the philosophy of those controlling government at any given point in time. This would be unconstitutional and a great violation of personal rights and liberties as would placing taxes or fees upon anyone to support media organizations or the training of journalist.
