From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Gentlemen: In my opinion there is a crisis in journalism, however that crisis has nothing whatsoever to do with funding or the absence of viable funding of this or that particular media group. The problem exists in the sweeping exercise of journalism today. The problem is that advocacy has replaced disciplined and detached journalism across all media spectra. Your governmental group cannot help this sad situation. Further government involvement and ties with media can, in my opinion, cause immeasurable distrust of government and can as a consequence cause even more damage to our troubled republic. Please do nothing to further increase popular distrust of government and old tainted media.
