From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I strongly oppose your efforts to tax and censor free speech as outlined in your "Reinventing Journalism" document to be discussed at the June 15 meeting. Journalism should be able to survive on its own without government intrusion. This proposal would only serve to impede criticism of the current administration and make all U.S. citizens pay to support journalists who support administration policies. This is nothing less than government control and censorship of free speech and would violate the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. We don't need an American-style "Pravda" and suppression of opposing viewpoints.
