From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
So, is this a "back door" maneuver to strip the first amendment right to free speech? The FTC wants to become the "speech/thought police" for anyone who expresses and espouses conservative thought? Print journalism is dying because of internet technology and the "instant" need-to-know appetite of the public. Cable opinion programs and cable news, yes, actual NEWS, programs have put print journalism to the wayside. Such is progress. However, the real question is, what has happened to journalism? What has happened to the actual reporting of a news event without the journalist's personal belief/slant/perception entering into the reporting? As Captain Friday of Dragnet said: "Only the facts, ma'am." Isn't that what true journalism is?????
