From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
This amounts to little more than a bailout for the journalism industry. There are plenty of media outlets that are thriving and for the government to bail out those that aren't is unfair. Journalism is a business and as such it needs to adapt to the needs of it's customers. Partisanship has no place in journalism and if the government begins interfering the in the business of journalism there will be massive abuses by both ruling parties. The government needs to keep it's hands off journalistic affairs in order to ensure a free press. Keep in mind that a tool in the hands of one party today could be a weapon in the hands of another party tomorrow.
