From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Please stop this ridiculous plan for the "Reinvention of Journalism." This is nothing more than a plan to bailout the market failures and to punish the market successes. Most Americans, the "Marketplace," prefer internet news aggregators over the boring, too-late-to matter print newspapers. So what do you propose? Tax the aggregators and use tax dollars to bailout the largely liberal, pro-Obama lackey newspapers. Furthermore, I certainly do not want to pay for a "journalism division" of Americorps. In fact, I do not even want Americorps to exist. It's going to go over real big with the iPod users when you propose a 5% tax on consumer electronics. Even the young gov-school grads and dropouts alike, big Obama supporters, will be upset when you propose taxing their latest electronic toys. Lastly, the "Citizenship Media Fund" sounds like an Orwellian euphonism for "tax the heck out of any entertainment and communications media not covered by the rest of the progressive/socialist tax program.
