From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I strongly oppose any efforts interfering with journalism. The world is constantly changing and you must allow the natural rise and fall of industry. The newspaper is no longer the first choice for news in the world and any efforts to support it will be a waste of money. The internet and it's wealth of information is without a doubt the most effective way of disseminating information we have ever seen. Any attempt to tax, regulate, guide, nudge or interfere with this medium is absolutely unforgivable. Any news source that is in anyway subsidized by the government will be assumed by the public to be a merely a paid mouth piece of the government. KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF THE INTERNET!!!!! It is vital that it remain free and open. I am intelligent enough to know that I can't rely on one source to get my information and I demand you not attempt to interfere with my right to freely view what ever content I choose. Freedom of the press! Freedom of the internet! We all know this proposed initiative is an attempt by Obama to control the information available to Americans and everyone knows controlling the people via the press is just another step in the Socialist agenda this administration is trying to shove down the throat of the America people. If you wish to live under Socialism move out of my FREE country. The newspapers are so openly in love Obama everyone knows they are a waste of time to read. The papers themselves are responsible for their current situation because of their lack of integrity. I would never believe anything written by a 'journalist' trained with government money, AmeriCorps is a huge waste of taxpayer dollars and it needs to be disbanded.
