From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Journalism CAN SURVIVE in the future, but within new venues. The old tangible newspapers and magazines are being replaced with electronic news journalism, talk radio, and Internet sites. This proposal would be akin to trying years ago to fund the continuation of the horse-and-buggy type of transportation. Transportation has continued to thrive, but in different venues (automobile, airplanes, etc.). As with all aspects of society, the free-market, free-enterprise, and consumer preferences should be dictate future journalistic developments, not taxpayer funded subsidies.
