From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I am very strongly opposed to any effort within the US government to control free speech, such as the misnomered "fairness doctrine", or the FTC's current movement to "reinvent journalism". It amounts to nothing more than a scurrilous attack on our freedom of speech guaranteed by the Constitution. It is an effort to accomplish by abusive, nefarious means what the left cannot win at the ballot box. It is an incredibly evil effort, a clear demonstration that the left cannot tolerate open exposure of the truth about the ramifications of its agenda. It is certainly akin to similar oppression carried on in communist China and the now defunct communist Soviet Union. Journalism is achieving its own demise, having taken its unrelenting leftward course. It must also make its own necessary corrections back to balanced reporting and survival in a free market environment, and must be left alone to do so.
