From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Using government intervention to prop up one industry by taxing another seems un-American and unconstitutional. If traditional media outlets are having difficulty retaining their customers, they should then change their business model to retain customers and gain new ones. You can't lift someone up by pushing someone else down. By taxing the competition, the government is creating a favorite with no public benefit. I strongly oppose any infringement of the first amendment through government agency supported fines and taxes.
