From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
To whom it may concern: As you know, there is more than one way to control free speech. One is force of arms; something practiced in countries like Venezuela. Another way is through force of legal or financial restraint. It appears to me that the direction being considered by the FTC is comparable to the latter. I oppose any effort by a government entity to impose excise taxes favorable to one ideology and unfavorable to another. Government should be neutral on political ideologies allowing for the will of the people to determine the direction of free political thought. This is the American way. Shouldn't government entities bend to the will of the people instead of such entities forcing the people to bend to the wishes of a rogue administration? I think so. We, including the FTC, should all bend to the Constitution of the United States of America. It has been a bull-work of safety for all these years. I see no reason to adjust to the right or to the left.
