Transatlantic RFID Workshop on Consumer Privacy and Data Security
I do NOT want line item RFID tags. I feel it would be a huge invasion of privacy even if they plan to deactivate it at purchase counter. Theres no way of knowing it is deactivated or even if it can be reactivated. Most are so tiny that you might not even knowing have them. Labeling would help but not as much as not haveing it in there to begin with. It would have to be physicaly removed at the very least. I do not trust any corperation with this technology on an individual basis. If left to them they will market this and invade privacy. This isnt a question in most everyones mind. However I have absolutely no problem with them useing it on there warehouse stock such as pallets or even the boxes on it. But not the shirt, pants, shoes, dvd player, etc in the box. I really hope that we can come to an agreement not to RFID tag the individual items that we buy. This would have a negitive impact on privacy and impact many people unknowingly. Please prevent this from happening. The little bit of convience comes at a costs and I for one dont think its worth it. Thank you for your time and I hope that youll take serious our concerns for privacy.
