America's epidemic of obesity among children and youth is a complex societal issue whose end result will be shorter lifespans, increases in secondary conditions attributable to obesity, and dramatically increasing healthcare costs. Marketing which promotes unhealthy foods is one contributory factor to this epidemic of obesity. Strictures on advertising/marketing similar to those adopted to prevent alcohol and tobacco company marketing to teens should be adopted. Please seriously consider amending policy to reflect protections for the vulnerability of children and youth.
