16 CFR Part 312; Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule Review; Project No. P104503
As a citizen, I have been concerned about children's privacy online for some time now. While I was happy to see COPPA passed, I always felt we could do more to protect children. Now that I am a parent, I am even more concerned about children's privacy. It takes a great deal of effort on the part of parents to limit advertising and marketing to our children. The changes that have taken place in online advertising world in the past 10 years have been quite dramatic. I hope that the FTC will revise COPPA to continue to protect the rights of parents in protecting their children. I am specifically concerned about behavioral targeting and collecting IP addresses of computers used by children. I am also concerned about web sites collecting personal information such as names, pictures and videos of children.
