I would like to go on record stating that I am distressed that the FTC has decided to expend so much time and money going after MTNA, a music teacher organization. The Code of Ethics that the FTC objected to (and which MTNA has now removed from their website) was a voluntary provision that MTNA members not actively recruit from other members. This Code of Ethics was just common sense behavior for all music teachers, and it's very sad that the FTC felt it necessary to attack an organization of music teachers. As you know, MTNA has agreed to abide by the FTC's decree. But, this compliance comes at a high cost. It is very discouraging to find that our government is spending so many resources on something so fruitless and so unnecessary.
