The MTNA Code of Ethics is an articulation of policies that are widely regarded as being necessary for private teachers operating in the same area, whether or not they belong to MTNA. It is not intended or used as a means for fixing prices or shutting out competition. These policies do not in any way adversely affect consumers or free market competition. On the contrary, the policies encourage fair and ethical behavior. As a music teacher and member of MTNA for over 30 years, I have not seen any evidence of harm to any individual through observance of these policies.
