Proposed Consent Agreement In the Matter of Music Teachers National Association, Inc.

I have been an active member of MTNA, CSMTA (Colorado State Music Teachers Association), and FMTA (Foothills Music Teacher's Association) since 2002. These organizations are exemplary in promoting professionalism and accountability among private music teachers. As a professional music teacher, this consent will have no direct impact on me. I will continue to build and develop my private music teaching studio as I have for the past 12 years with a high commitment to teaching excellence, integrity, and respect for my students, their parents, and my colleagues. As a tax payer and citizen of the United States, I am disheartened, appalled, and quite frankly, disgusted that the FTC has chosen to target MTNA over the issue of restraining competitiveness. I believe this action is a grievous act of over-regulation and waste of my tax dollars. Does the FTC need to scrape this low to justify its existence? ~Elaine Van Dellen, NCTM
