Please consider the following: 1) Private music teachers are not required to be a part of MTNA and therefore if in disagreement with Code of Ethics can simply choose not to join the organization. 2) Music instruction is typically a long term educational relationship and discontented students can easily seek and find alternative teachers. 3) The Code of Ethics only suggests that targeting specific students of other MTNA teachers is disrespectful to the professional teacher and not in the best interest of the students' education. Other marketing is not prohibited. 4) The cost to MTNA in legal fees and time & energy devoted to music education is prohibitive. It seems detrimental to teachers and students to have FTC pursue this matter.
