As music teachers, we teach for the love of teaching and the joy of engaging in the musical learning process of a child. We strengthen our teaching skills through membership of organizations such as MTNA for the soul purpose of giving back to our students and sharing with our colleagues. The violation our organization is charged with is "unfair methods of competition". Competition simply does not exist in the minds of our members. The organization is based on the fact that we do our best work when we share our knowledge and skills; from the college professional to the recent grad student to the grandmother teaching in the neighborhood. Why would we have any desire to compete on a price point or solicit a colleagues' students? We are members of MTNA to share and learn from one another. Our individual success and our student's success contributes to the organization as a whole. The need to be able to compete and take one another's students would destroy this organization. Please don't do this. The clause "restriction of competition" is ludicrous. How can you restrict something that does not exist in the heart of the individual?
