The personal care industry most DEFINITELY needs the same guidelines about the usage of the word 'organic' as does the food industry. It is entirely misleading to consumers to buy a product labeled 'organic' when it is nothing of the sort. If the company makes organic claims, they should be held to the same standards as food labels. In other words, they must seek organic certification and their products must be, literally, edible. Especially maddening are the companies that 'support breast cancer research' by donning a pink ribbon on their product, when their products contain known carcinogens within. The US needs to adopt preventative measures for chemicals in personal care products similar to the EU.
