16 CFR Part 423: Trade Regulation Rule on Care Labeling of Textile Wearing Apparel and Certain Piece Goods, FTC Project No. R511915
I am writing to ask that the care label rule is protected and that every garment manufactured be required to have a care label inside each garment. My staff are trained to read garment care labels before cleaning garments. The care label is our way of identifying the best method of care for each garment based on the fiber content, trim, dyes and gives instructions on the safest way to process a garment. Without these instructions and information all of this information is unknown. Wetcleaning is becoming a very common practice in the drycleaning industry. My store wetcleans approximately 65%-80% of the clothes we take in. I think it would be great if we read more care labels that specified wetcleaning as an viable option of care. This way we would know if all parts of the garment would withstand a normal wetcleaning procedure.
