Face Facts: A Forum on Facial Recognition Technology, Project No. P115406
I am very concerned about my privacy. Any facial recognition that is used by a private entity must be done only after the customer gives explicit permission to the company. Such permission must be made plain, and not hidden in a long gobbledygook lawyer's agreement, or hidden on a website. We should have to "opt-in" to grant such permission. Our faces should not be sold by one company to another. Use of facial recognition by law enforcement can be valid, but only when searching for a specific person suspected of a crime, preferably after a search warrant is granted by a judge. It should never be used by government to troll for people through the general population. Government entities should never be able to create a database of innocent U.S. citizens using facial recognition, DNA, or any other means. If that sort of thing is allowed, then we will loose our freedom, as well as our privacy.
