I have been an active member of MTNA and Utah Music Teachers Association for over 30 years. I have found this organization to be honorable in all of its dealings with teachers, students, parents and communities at large. I was astonished to hear of the challenges they have been put through with the Federal Trade Commission. I have never been restricted by anyone in this organization in any way. I have charged whatever I have felt was a fair amount for my time and experience. I have taught those who I have wanted to teach. I have applied the Golden Rule in my career: Do unto others as you would have them do to you. This is an organization of teachers striving to improve their knowledge and skills in order to bless others lives through music. When one does a good job in teaching, word gets around. I've never had a need to advertise or pursue someone else's students. Instead, I've been blessed by colleagues referring students to me from time to time. I just can't get a handle on why the FTC would go after such a selfless organization. I feel the FTC is overstepping. Please see this organization with pure eyes and you'll see how much America benefits from having so many wonderful teachers caring about the up and coming generation and promoting the arts through music.
