This is absolutely ridiculous. This is a profession that does not lead to large incomes or fame, and it would be miserable without a community of teachers helping each other. As it is, we already spend large amounts of unpaid time researching, picking repertoire, traveling to students' competitions, and countless other activities. That is part of the job, and we do that for each and every student in our studios because we want them to have the best opportunities. Any teacher who would recruit a fellow teacher's students would certainly not benefit from his or her community of teachers. What the FTC is proposing is to enter a spirit of meanness into MTNA.
