Music teachers have long had an understanding that it is unethical to solicit students from another teacher's studio. We do not feel that this hinders our income. Doing so hinders our professionalism. If a student is unhappy with their current teacher, they have the right to find another teacher on their own. I often get "transfer students" from another teacher and accept them into my studio. But that is because the student's parents researched teachers, not because I went and talked to them and convinced them to leave their current teacher. We respect each other in our organization and feel it is unethical to SEEK OUT students from another studio. To spend a year investigating our code of ethics is a complete waste of time.
