I do not understand how the FTC sees this professional courtesy as somehow restricting competition or price fixing. We music teachers are all in this together, trying to support each other and do the best we can for our students. Because of the nature of the teacher-student relationship, and the small size of the music teachers' community, it is unwise to try to recruit someone else's student. That harms the student, breaks the flow of instruction and learning, and poisons the professional environment. Good, reputable music teachers understand that if the teacher or student wish to make a change, that needs to come from between them. This provision in our code was just a statement of that awareness. Thank you.
