Alcohol Reports: Project No. P114503
Thank you for this opportunity. I just want to say that I believe that advertising for alcoholic drinks has gone too far and the glamorization, sex appeal, and fun times associated with alcohol ads is totally unrealistic, misleading, and damaging. Obviously the self-regulation of alcohol advertising is working well for the alcohol related companies (manufacturers, distributors, retailers, etc.) but it's not working well for the health and safety of Americans in general nor our youth in particular. I say this due to the many people who are struggling with alcohol addiction and health related issues. I say this because so many young people are using alcohol at younger ages than ever and getting into all sorts of trouble as a result. Easy access to alcoholic drinks is prevalent in today's American society. Unless the alcohol industry is forced to be responsible and show/tell the truth about the many many health and behavioral issues that alcohol use can cause they never will. There is plenty of health related data and crime data that will show that our society is gradually declining as a result of alcohol use and abuse. I believe it is time for regulators and health officials to step up to the plate and put some balance to the marketing on-slaught of "Big Alcohol". Thank you.
