In my city, we have already lost Staples stores. The nearest one is in Chandler, AZ, a suburb of Phoenix. After Office Max and Office Depot merged, we have ONE office supply store remaining. How's that for competition? To get decent pricing, I HAVE TO shop online. I am beyond sick of private equity organizations and their machinations. I lost my last job when corporate raiders bought my company then stripped it of assets and loaded it with debt to the point of bankruptcy. They got to keep the stripped company but only with stores in one state (not mine). The majority of employees lost their jobs, the ones who stayed got lower wages and benefits. Some of us were never paid our commissions for our last months of work. Not to mention my town lost its best furniture store. People come up to me 8 years later and tell me how much they miss American Home. All this so a bunch of already-wealthy corporate raiders could squirrel away even more money. It's sickening. If that's capitalism, give me socialism.
