In the Matter of Staples/Essendant, Inc., File No. 1810180
Commissioners: About the last thing we need is less competition. Big box stores like Staples compete with Office Max and others. Removing one of the competitors is a serious error. Allowing the uber rich to tear apart profitable businesses so that they can make even more money that they do not need is wrong. You are in business to protect the people, not the plutocrats. Do your job and protect the marketplace from these almost military incursions. I have little faith that any appointees of the current "administration" will ever do the right thing for the people, but I am dumb enough to hope that they will see the error inherent in destroying what it took us decades to build in terms of public policy and sensible regulation of too-big bidness. Please think of real human people, not the wealthy, and protect us from yet another catastrophe at their greedy grubby little hands. Your slogan says "for the consumer." How about living up to it?
