FTC to Hold Workshop Examining Online Event Ticket Sale - Agency Seeks Input in Advance of March 2019 Workshop; Project No. P18450
I have not ordered tickets from Ticketmaster for several years (at least ten), but I knew my cost would jump about $20 if I was going to Target Center or River Centre (I think I found out at the end what my grand total would be). I know some were called "convenience fees," but I'm not sure about the rest (maybe one was for the venue). Once, I was able to bypass those extra fees by buying a ticket for a future concert while at the venue. But I've done that only once since Ticketmaster no longer sells tickets close to where I live (it's been probably at least two decades since it stopped doing that). My tickets cost $70+ and then you tack on the extra fees. Who can afford to go to very many shows each year?
