FTC to Hold Workshop Examining Online Event Ticket Sale - Agency Seeks Input in Advance of March 2019 Workshop; Project No. P18450
I am writing with regard to the proliferation of hidden fees impacting consumers. The concert/event industry is controlled by duopolies (TicketMaster and Stubhub). Their practice of not displaying hidden, and aggregious, fees up front is misleading and lacks transparency. Because consumers have no other options, your choice is to pay up or opt out. These fees can increase the price of a ticket by over 30%!!! It's time to limit this practice and require full transparency. What's worse is that the performers/artists create the value, not the ticket sellers. Where is the added value to justify a 30% processing fee????
