FTC to Hold Workshop Examining Online Event Ticket Sale - Agency Seeks Input in Advance of March 2019 Workshop; Project No. P18450
I live in a small town in Northern Michigan, but occasionally enjoy traveling to a larger city to attend a musical play. I am retired and live on a budget, so I have to take into consideration travel expenses in addition to ticket costs. I expect the cost of tickets to rise in proportion to changes in the cost of living. However, so many added fees are tacked onto the tickets that it is getting harder and harder to attend events. When I order $55 tickets I am always dismayed that they don't really cost $55 because of the added fees. With all the added fees of assorted names (service fee, convenience fee, restoration fee, etc.) the ticket actually costs close to $80. I urge you to correct this problem.
