Hearing #2 On Competition and Consumer Protection in the 21st Century
I just saw that there is a new addition to the WEA through FEMA that is allowing Presidential Alerts to be forced to our cell phones and we have no option to opt out. I understand the FEMA portion for emergencies, but I see no need for Presidential Alerts to be forced upon us. Why aren't they subscription based for those interested to enroll, or at least allow us to opt out. His comments have no business being broadcast to the devices of children, etc. We have to deal with radio and TV interruptions whenever deemed necessary for the president to address the nation, but we can decide what children are watching and I feel we should not be subjected to a Presidential Alert system that will interfere with these abilities otherwise. This is true abuse of the technology.
