Privacy Act of 1974; System of Records: FTC File No. P072104
As part of the Privacy Act, the FTC is 'supposed' to be taking action via the 'Do Not Call' system. However, there are on-going instances where this is being flagrantly ignored by callers. From all appearances the FTC is doing NOTHING to 'enforce' this Do Not Call action. This lack of enforcement is leading to a further propagation of these annoying and intrusive calls. My 'comment' is that the FTC needs to initiate a 'next level' of consideration in this area where by a 'monitor' can be applied to individual's home phones that identifies these violations and allows the FTC to take appropriate punitive actions.
