I realize that you, the FTC, is looking into some of the goings on within Corelogic and are requesting public comment. I'm an appraisal trainee who has ALMOST completed training after 4 and a half years of continual work and little to often NO pay-- it's kind of like 'indentured servitude' to become an appraiser these days. But, it interests me! I taught Math for many years and loved each and every moment of it (keeping current by teaching college classes for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University nights) but since helping my husband with every aspect of remodeling a home (including concrete work, lifting heavy beams into place for structural support, drywalling, tiling, laying down hardwood floors, etc.) I became interested in studying and evaluating them. So, I am VERY concerned with all of CoreLogic's acquisitions; including the most recent acquisition of ala mode, an appraisal software I use almost daily. For CoreLogic to own and have access to appraisals made by appraisers is unconscionable! The very idea is a definite case of conflict of interest. Please look carefully into this issue! It could make the difference between true appraisal of properties and carefully constructed ones, using data extracted from already completed and supposedly PRIVATE appraisal files...leading to another Fanny Mae/Freddie Mac or worse nightmare.
