In the Matter of CoreLogic, Inc., a corporation, File No. 131 0199
The FTC proposed action regarding CoreLogic's none responsive actions, Docket No. C-4458, is fully justified. As an independent fee appraiser I support it as do the majority of the membership of the California Coalition of Appraisal Processionals (CCAP). A careful review of CoreLogic's current holdings, which are both numerous and substantial, reveals a corporate network wherein conflict of interest potentials should be of grave concern. Here you have a single corporate entity, with numerous divisions or acquisitions, that now controls appraisal order flow, appraiser fees, and appraisal data... and that's not all. The fact is that CoreLogic has vastly more influence in the valuation of real estate then can be reasonably considered healthy for fair and open competitive markets. Both consumers and financial institutions are dependent on valuations developed from real estate data, and processes, which now appear to be be more and more under the control of a single entity. I respectfully suggest the commission expand its scope of review of Corelogic's controlling interests, data practices and business relationships and act to protect consumers and financial institutions.
