In the Matter of CoreLogic, Inc., a corporation, File No. 131 0199
As a real estate appraiser, I have become aware of acquisitions by CoreLogic, Inc., which now controls a large segment of data sources and software, which are relied upon by real estate appraisers, and users of real estate appraisal services, including both government and private entities. The United States has always attempted to protect the public by providing for competition and avoiding monopoly within an industry, citing Ma Bell and the Silver mineral industry, as two examples. I am therefore writing to this Commission, as a concerned citizen and member of the real estate industry, regarding the appearance of undue control of data and services by a single company, which are relied upon by appraisers, and the real estate industry as a whole. Ownership of real estate is the backbone of this nation, invested in by local citizenry as well as those outside our national borders. The control of services and industries by a single entity could have an adverse undue influence on independence of providers of real estate appraisal services and financial safety of this nation. Please take actions which will protect the real estate industry from undue singular influence. Thank you for your time.
