In the Matter of CoreLogic, Inc., a corporation, File No. 131 0199
Corelogic is heavily involved in the entire appraisal process. It now owns Alamode, the appraisal software utilized by many appraisers, as well as a multitude of other entities that are necessary for preparation of real property appraisals. Allowing one company to own so many businesses that are necessary to one profession is considered to be monopolistic. There is no longer fair competition in the field. Corelogic is poised to control appraiser fees as well as the cost of doing business. They have positioned themselves to mine appraisals for data and eventually put individual appraisers out of business. This type of practice is exactly why the Federal Trade Commission was established.
