In the Matter of CoreLogic, Inc., a corporation, File No. 131 0199
I have been in the appraisal business as an independent appraiser for about 20 years. During that time I have been witness to CoreLogic gobbling up various aspects of the appraisal field with respect to data availability, access to lenders through data portals, cost approach data (builder cost data), and now appraisal software accessibility. This concerns me that CoreLogic will have complete control of the appraisal process from lender pipeline to public data dissemination to software design to staff appraisers to completed appraisal vault storage. This is s true monopoly of a very important aspect of the American economy. In my humble opinion, the FTC needs to investigate the intent of CoreLogic's consumption of the various business aspects of the appraisal process.
