FTC 16 CFR Part 315 Public Workshop Examining Contact Lens Marketplace And Analyzing Proposed Changes To The Contact Lens Rule
I work as a staff member in small optometry practice. We have had multiple requests from contact lens companies at our office to verify a patient's contact lens prescription so they can order them online. The main company we hear from is Hubble. However, when we try to verify the prescription, the voicemail recording is very quick so we can't hear the patient's name, what prescription was used, and what material the lenses were. We are then unable to verify whether the patient is even using the correct lenses. We have also had several patients come in with lenses with the incorrect prescription from Hubble, and have been unable to see, which is a public hazard. It is very frustrating as an office that provides eye care to ensure the best health options and vision for our patients.
