FTC 16 CFR Part 315 Public Workshop Examining Contact Lens Marketplace And Analyzing Proposed Changes To The Contact Lens Rule
Dear FTC Commissioners, I am an optometrist in Crofton, Maryland. The new rules proposed are going to be burdensome on a small business owner like myself. It has been frustrated to follow the FTC contact lens rules when online contact lens retailers blatantly ignore them, filling expired contact lens prescriptions or filling prescriptions for people who are not my patient but claim to be my patient. We spend so much time and energy in verifying prescriptions and when someone's health is in jeopardy, and we deny the prescription, we come across as the bad guy trying to deny a retail sale. I urge the FTC to listen to the American Optometric Association's suggestions and guidelines on how best to move forward, for patients, for the public and for us doctors. Sincerely, Nina Nghi Doyle, O.D.
