FTC 16 CFR Part 315 Public Workshop Examining Contact Lens Marketplace And Analyzing Proposed Changes To The Contact Lens Rule
Dear FTC Commissioners: I am an optometrist in private practice in London, KY. I am writing today to express my disapproval of the new proposal to the Contact Lens Rule. There is no reason why optometrists and ophthalmologists should be strapped with the burdensome tasks of additional paperwork and storage requirements. Many doctors like myself practice in small office settings where additional managerial burdens such as these are very problematic for a small staff. We do the best we can for our patients. We are trying to provide excellent care for our friends and colleagues within our communities. I feel that these new proposals are targeting people like me while making it much easier for large retailers. It has been well documented that these retailers have blatantly disregarded rules that have already been put in place for years! I beg you to listen to the voices of the nation's eye doctors. These are trusted professionals who are seeing patients in their own communities and trying to keep them safe. Please, don't listen to consultants for companies who are only interested in their retail bottom lines! Make patient safety a priority not just in our offices, but in Washington, D.C. Sincerely, TeShawna B. Sutton, O.D.
