FTC 16 CFR Part 315 Public Workshop Examining Contact Lens Marketplace And Analyzing Proposed Changes To The Contact Lens Rule
I am an optometrist with an office in California. I am strongly opposed to the proposed contact lens rule requiring patients to sign an acknowledgement form when they receive a copy of their contact lens prescription. This creates a ridiculous wast of time explaining the requirement to patients and time that will be required to scan the form into electronic records. California law already requires me to have a sign in the office that notifies patients of their rights to their prescription. This new rule creates an unnecessary waste of time and money for government red tape. Please reconsider! If you want to fix a true problem please change the current rules that allow on line fillers of contact lens prescriptions to fax a request for prescription verification over the weekend so that we don't have enough time to respond to them to let them know that a prescription is expired.
