FTC 16 CFR Part 315 Public Workshop Examining Contact Lens Marketplace And Analyzing Proposed Changes To The Contact Lens Rule
I do not see the justification for targeting optometrists and ophthalmologists with new paperwork and document storage requirements as this proposal would do. It is totally misguided. I give all my patients their contact lens prescriptions. It belongs to them. The problem is with the verification process and allowing patients whose rx is expired to get more contacts. As an optometrist, my main concern is the health and welfare of my patients eyes. Contacts lenses are medical devices. If fit improperly or worn improperly a person can lose their vision permanently. There are many voices purportedly paying consultants to voice unfounded claims. I urge you to please listen to the nation's eye doctors and other public health experts, put quality care and patient health and safety a priority in Washington,DC. Thank you!
