FTC 16 CFR Part 315 Public Workshop Examining Contact Lens Marketplace And Analyzing Proposed Changes To The Contact Lens Rule
As an Optometrist whom is charged with caring for his patients eyes I am at a loss as to why the FTC is even considering this legislation. You are putting unnecessary burdens on honest doctors while allowing the companies that blatantly break your own laws regarding contact lenses prescriptions all for the sake of money with no regard to their eye or vision health. Every practicing doctors can site numerous violations of expired contact lens prescriptions that have been filled and several that led to adverse ocular effects for that patient. We have state boards in place to handle legitimate complaints of doctors who do not release valid contact lens prescriptions. I would ask that you put peoples vision and eye safety at the forefront of this issue and reject this misguided legislation. Respectfully. Sid Morse OD
