FTC 16 CFR Part 315 Public Workshop Examining Contact Lens Marketplace And Analyzing Proposed Changes To The Contact Lens Rule
Good day, I have been practicing optometry for 30 years and perform eye exams on contact lens patients daily. Most of my patients find it convenient to obtain their contacts from me directly, but occasionally, a patient prefers to purchase contacts from on-line retailers or other sources. According to the current laws, we are to provide a copy of their Rx and always go out of our way to assure that a request from an on-line retailer is honored as quickly as possible. Adding another step to the process will be time consuming for the patient and our office. We already have laws in place to protect the consumer and adding another layer is over-kill. Let's instead take a hard look at the on-line retailers who abuse the laws by dispensing/selling contacts to patients with an expired prescription. Thank you, Dr. Dan DaPolito
