Understanding Competition in U.S. Prescription Drug Markets: Entry and Supply Chain Dynamics
As evidenced in the FTC November workshop, understanding competition in prescription drug markets has become increasingly important to ensure patients' access to much-needed and costly pharmaceuticals. I would like to draw your attention to an additional issue that plays a critical role, i.e. the negotiation of trade agreements that increasingly delve into intellectual property rights' issues affecting pharmaceuticals. Indeed, trade negotiations are often the conduit for hampering competition to secure higher drug prices both in the United States and abroad. MFJ International is a small consulting firm with a significant focus on trade policies that impact access to affordable drugs throughout the world. We would appreciate it if we could meet with you to discuss this issue further.
