Understanding Competition in U.S. Prescription Drug Markets: Entry and Supply Chain Dynamics
I have owned a pharmacy in a rural area for over thirty-five years with a population of 20,000. It has been an up-hill battle to pay my employees' salaries with the low reimbursements that we are receiving and the fact that PBMs are collecting DIR fees. Large corporations seem to be doing very well making their money, as the independent pharmacies are fading and struggling. I have tried to serve my community to the best of my ability, but my pharmacy is struggling and the people who I once had the opportunity to serve are the ones who are suffering the most. I would appreciate it if you could please intervene on behalf of all independent pharmacies on the unregulated entities to break up the enormous power that PBMs have over the auto-control cost of health.
