Understanding Competition in U.S. Prescription Drug Markets: Entry and Supply Chain Dynamics
I'm a pharmacist in rural Burlington County New Jersey who is a partner in 3 independent pharmacies. Two of these pharmacies have been in business over 30 years. I have been practicing retail pharmacy since 1980 and have seen many changes over that time. The first anti-competitive change was when CVS was allowed to merge with CAREMARK to form the first class anti-competition, anti-american PBM pharmacy conglomerate CVS/CAREMARK. They've run roughshod over independent retailpharmacy ever since. I'M EXPRESSING MY DESIRE FOR THIS CVS/CAREMARK AETNA MERGER TO NOT BE ALLOWED. DO NOT PERMIT THIS MERGER AS IT IS NOT IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE AMERICAN CITIZENRY. The American public's interests are not the concern of either company. They are only interested in destroying compettion and feeding their stockholders. The american public must be protected by the FTC this time. The average citizen has no clue what's really happening in this industry; PBM's free to do whatever they want due to lack of transparency in their industry. The actions and policies of the PBM'S are not kept in check because of the "HEAR NO EVIL SEE NO EVIL" attitudes of our elected officials in DC. Their practices are anti-american. Millions of americans throughout history have died protecting our freedoms of choice and the PBM's want only to dictate, not allow freedom of choice. Our free market system must be allowed to proliferate and anti freedom of choice entities must be eliminated. Do not allow this merger. It's not in the best interests of America and will actually destroy the free competitive markets that americans deserve. If you need someone to testify against this merger then I'm your guy. Please FTC STOP THIS MERGER! PROTECT THOSE WHO KNOW NOTHING OF THIS LAWLESSNESS NATURE OF AMERICAN BUSINESS. THEY DESERVE YOUR PROTECTION! No one should be told what pharmacy or what retail store or what car to buy. FREEDOM OF CHOICE, WHY NOT IN ALL BUSINESS. I'M ALL FOR FREEDOM OF CHOICE AND NO MERGER BETWEEN AETNA AND CVS/CAREMARK
